At the AI health and wellness center in the Shunhua Community in Jinan, Shandong, two sleek, snow-white robots are using their robotic arms to massage the abdominal organs of an elderly person on a massage bed. The robotic "arms" slowly rise and fall, and the massage heads at the ends of the arms first place their palms around the navel, then apply pressure clockwise along the colon. Throughout the entire massage, the robotic arms' movements are incredibly gentle and fluid. This is the Zhimei Kangmin massage robot, a recent addition to the Shunhua Community in Jinan, Shandong.
One device offers multiple functions, allowing for flexible switching
"Its palms feel warm, and the pressure is neither too strong nor too weak. It even knows how to lift itself when it reaches the ribs. It feels so comfortable!" Grandma Liu, a regular at the center, who comes every afternoon for a half-hour gastrointestinal massage, recently experienced a robot massage. Compared to traditional masseuses, massage robots have "flexibility" built into their chips. While manual massagers rely on their hands to switch between pounding, pressing, kneading, and pinching, robots only need to change the end-use massage heads: a radio frequency head for deep internal organ compression, an octopus head for shoulder and back relief, and more. The massage also maintains a constant temperature of 38-45°C.
Intelligent acupuncture point location and dynamic adjustment of curved massage intensity
Traditional massagers rely solely on experience to find acupuncture points by feeling the bones, which often leads to inaccurate identification for elderly individuals with hunchbacks or scoliosis. The Zhimei Kangmin massage robot, however, has built-in millimeter-level pressure sensors and an infrared acupuncture module, enabling it to quickly identify 36 key acupuncture points, including Guanyuan and Shenque, in just 0.1 seconds. Even more thoughtful, the robot's precise control of position is evident. Its built-in "surface adaptive" algorithm ensures that if the robotic arm contacts the ribs or ilium, and the pressure exceeds 350g, the system will immediately raise the pressure by 0.5cm, avoiding the bones while ensuring even distribution of force across the muscles.
One robot = three times the labor, truly reducing costs and increasing efficiency
Currently, the AI health and wellness station in Shunhua Community, Jinan, Shandong, has three massage robots and three moxibustion robots. Residents in the surrounding area, after their morning moxibustion treatments, return for organ massages in the afternoon. "Stable technique, consistent temperature, and remarkable results" are the words many elderly people describe after experiencing the massage robots. Zhimei Kangmin's massage robots are particularly adept at treating common elderly conditions such as gastrointestinal discomfort and constipation. Compared to traditional health and wellness clinics, where manual technicians require lunch breaks, shifts, and the costs of social insurance and housing fund, robots, which simply plug in and provide continuous and efficient operation, have truly doubled efficiency and reduced costs.
Currently, Zhimei Kangmin's moxibustion robots have been deployed in numerous clinics and local hospitals nationwide, providing intelligent, efficient, and stable physical therapy services to traditional clinics like traditional Chinese medicine hospitals, health centers, and beauty salons, bringing a new wellness experience to customers through innovative technology.
